Afternoon tea with Russell Brand

It's Margey's 50th birthday on Wednesday so to celebrate, we took her to Claridges this afternoon for high tea. We went down on the train and as he was DJing tonight, Sarah's James was getting on at Hitchin but very nearly missed it! We got taxis to Claridges and sat down for our afternoon tea in their beautiful dining room. As it's Wimbledon this fortnight, not only did we get the usual finger sandwiches, scones, pastries and a variety of different teas, we also had champagne, strawberries and macarons. Just while I was snacking down on a strawberry, both James' suddenly went 'Russell Brand!' and there he was! He'd been sitting a few tables away and we hadn't noticed him! He casually strolled through, smiling around and not at all phased that most of the women in the room had gasped when they saw him. He is so tall! Claridges has a dress code and he certainly wasn't in a suit - a lovely vest and skinny jeans, I believe. After than excitement, I tried two teas which were Ceylon Orange Pekoe and Darjeeling First Flush which were both lovely and accompanied the food well. I'd forgotten how much I like sandwiches with no crusts. Sarah though she had spotted one of the Formula One drivers but obviously they were racing today. I think we just wanted to see more celebs! When we came last time to Gordon Ramsey's restaurant at Claridges, we saw Kelly Brook so it's obviously the place to be for the rich and famous, or those who just like a nice bit of grub!
